THEY KEPT THE SEA LANES OPEN, Artist: Leon. A. Shafer (1866-1940) Original Ww1 propaganda poster depicting a German U boat surrounded by an American destroyer and troop ship. This poster like so many others were issues by the United States government as part of their liberty bonds campaign between 1917 and 1919 to raise money for its involvement in World War I. This poster is linen backed and measures 29″ x 39″. We undertook some restoration to the right side where some tears were present.
