CLEAR THE WAY, Original WW1 Chandler Christy Liberty Bonds Poster

Clear the way 3222 LBCLEAR THE WAY, ~1917. Original World War 1 poster (20″ x 30″ / 51 x 76cms) designed by Howard Chandler Christy (1873 – 1952) to encourage the general public to buy bonds for the fourth Liberty Loan campaign. This poster like so many others by Christy invokes an overwhelming sense of patriotism with the American flag draped over a figure of Columbia next to soldiers aiming a naval gun.  Christy is perhaps the most celebrated and collectible of the WW1 American poster artists.

This rolled poster was in fine C8 condition prior to linen backing. There were two small tears in the bottom right of image that were lightly retouched. Vivid colors, no fading or significant toning.

Condition C8. Sold Linen Backed $425
