Directed by Don Siegel and based on 1975 novel by Glendon Swarthout. “He’s got to face a gunfight once more to live up to his legend once more to win just one more time.” In this, John Wayne’s last movie he plays John Brooks, an aging gunfighter who finds out he has terminal cancer. He spends his days looking for a way to die with minimum pain and maximum dignity. While making the movie Wayne ironically was suffering with cancer.
