24 HEURES DU MANS, 1969. Original Motor Racing Advertising poster for the 1969 French Le Mans 24 hour endurance race (16 x 24” / 52 x 78 cm). This poster was printed for the 37th annual event of the race held between June 14th and June 15th at the famous Le Mans racetrack in France. This poster displays the starting grid from an aerial view from the grandstand. This was the last year that this starting format was used after protests about the danger by Jackie Ickx who walked to his car and then ended up winning the race in a Ford GT40. A host of cars are displayed but in the foreground are four Renault Alpines including number 29 which ended up in 20th position.
Originally rolled, there were two small chips missing in each of the two lower corners. The poster is linen backed and in fine presentable condition and an ideal choice classic car fans!
