20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA, 1954. A original 1971 re-release Half Sheet (22″ x 28″) movie theater poster is for sale. A classic tale by Jules Verne, this film starred Kirk Douglas, James Mason, Paul Lukas, Peter Lorre, it was directed Richard Fleischer and was personally produced by Walt Disney! It was the first feature-length Disney film to be distributed by Buena Vista Distribution company and is also considered to be a precursor to the Steampunk genre. The film does not just sport beautiful posters, but was a real quality film that won itself 2 Academy Awards in 1954.
What is truly unique about Jules Verne is that his imagination was almost soothsaying in characteristic. He wrote about helicopters, submarines, flying to the moon, etc. and he did all this decades before many of these things were even invented!
