24 HEURES DU MANS, 1971. Original Advertising poster for the 1971 French Le Mans 24 hour endurance race (16 x 24” / 52 x 78 cm). This poster was printed for the 39th annual event of the race held between June 12th and June 13th at the famous Le Mans racetrack in France. This poster depicts the Ferrari 512S from the previous year’s race battling through the rain and mist conveying the sort of conditions that were often encountered in the race. In 1971 the conditions were unusually good and this combined with the last of year of the big engines made for lots of records and excitement. 1971 was the year that the Porsche 917 won the race and later made even more famous by Steve McQueen in the movie Le Mans. This poster has some scuff marks scattered throughout prior to linen backing and restoration.
