JEUNES GENS ENGAGEZ VOUS DANS LES TROUPES METROPOLE, 1914. Original WW1 French recruitment poster designed by Danilo during World War 1 (31.5 x 47.5”) (103 x 156 cms) to encourage young people to enlist in the Metropolitan Forces. Printed by the Republic of France Ministry of War this rare poster depicts the Gallic Rooster which symbolizes the nation of France and is often seen on French stamps as well. The rooster is front and center of the design but is set against a background of French troops on horseback hauling artillery on the battlefield.

A large and very attractive poster in excellent original C9 condition, now linen backed. We linen back and frame all of our posters IN HOUSE at our studio in Katy, TX!

Linen Backing a poster on canvas requires three essential elements; Linen which is marketed as Cotton Duck:, acid free Japanese Lining paper and a Wheat starch solution containing an alkali buffer which when used together provide a stable acid free environment for mounting a poster.

Linen backing is first and foremost a preservation and stabilization technique. It preserves the integrity of old and valuable paper and assures the poster can be safely handled and displayed.
