PLANET OF THE APES, 1968. Original Autographed Vintage science fiction Classic 1 Sheet (27″41″) Movie Theater Poster starring; Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, Director Franklin J. Schaffner, and writers Michael Wilson and Rod Serling. Also known as Monkey Planet, Heston plays a Astronaut traveling through space to land on a distant planet to only find a role reversal! The apes talk and men are simply animals. This movie has a lot of philosophical elements to it and the poster mirrors some of the writers original sentiment.
This poster is in fine condition, but has a small tear in the bottom left hand corner. There is a nominal amount of wear on the fold lines.
Interestingly, this 1-Sheet has been autographed by director Franklin J. Schaffner. This autograph was obtained in person from Mr. Schaffner at his AFI (American Film Institute) Fest tribute that took place on April 18, 1989. The poster was acquired through the head publicist and catalog editor at that event. This is an extremely rare movie poster!
