Based on the character created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson for DC Comics. “Science Transformed him into a Monster. Love Changed him Even More!” Dr. Alec Holland is a young scientist who is trying to create a resilient human/plant hybrid species, but becomes the victim of sabotage when a rival scientist-turned-villain sets out to destroy his lab. While attempting to escape, Holland inadvertently spills his highly flammable secret formula all over him and catches on fire. He dives into the water to extinguish the flames, but rises from the water as the Swamp Thing, a giant humanoid/plant creature with superhuman strength.
