TWA HONG KONG, 1960. Original Vintage TWA Airline Travel Poster (25 x 40” / 82 x 131 cm) designed and illustrated by David Klein. This poster is from the many that Klein designed during the 1950’s and 1960’s for Howard Hughes Trans World Airlines (TWA). This specific illustration features a striking composition made up of collaged iconic and well-known images from Hong Kong, then arranged the images atop a smiling geisha’s head in her headpiece. Some of the images include: a festival dragon, traditional “junk” ships, a tall pagoda, and variations of local people doing traditional jobs.
This poster is originally rolled and in good original C8 condition, but does have some conditional remarks: creasing in bottom portion of poster due to being flattened when rolled, minor wrinkling throughout poster, normal wear along margins, a few small vertical tears near bottom middle margin, and a small brown stain in bottom left corner in white space. Please click on image to zoom in and review for yourself. Overall this travel poster is beautifully composed and would look even better once Linen Backed. This process is available upon request for an additional $80 and would render the above conditional issues nearly invisible.
Condition C8. For Sale $225
