CASPER, 1950. Original One Sheet (27 x 41”), (89 x 125 cm) originally folded and now linen backed movie poster from Paramount Studios. Produced by Famous Studios. Created by Seymour Reit and Joe Oriolo. Seymour Reit came up with Casper’s character, and Joe Oriolo provided the illustrations. Casper is the ghost of a young boy who defies stereotypical ghost behaviors by befriending living creatures, instead of scaring them. Casper was originally intended as the basis for a children’s storybook in the late 1930’s, and was later sold to Paramount Picture’s animation division, Famous Studios. This poster depicts Casper as he is seen in the first short films produced by Famous Studios, such as “Casper’s Spree Under the Sea” and “Once Upon a Rhyme”.
Casper went on to become one of the most famous characters to come from Famous Studios, and appeared in theatrical animated film shorts, comic books, movies, and even video games! Ultra rare poster seldom seen in the available for sale.
Prior to linen backing, this poster was in excellent original C9 condition. The poster is virtually flawless except for some slight discoloration in the bottom white margin and faintly visible fold lines.
