COLONIAL COMPANY, 1946. Original Calendar (17 x 40″ / 56 x 102 cm) with Vintage Glamour Girl; artist unknown. A calendar like this one was popular in the 1940’s with the image of a pretty lady, usually smiling with makeup on, and in a particular themed outfit. The girl in this calendar is dressed in a red and white uniform with a hair wrap, wrapped in a warm navy fur – very patriotic. The calendar reads: “THE COLONIAL COMPANY, 1234 Main Street, Anywhere, U.S.A.” “It Pleases Us to Please You”. The calendar on the bottom is for January 1946 and includes all the former President’s birthdays; also including last month December of 1945 and next month February 1946. Below these extra calendars are quotes from Benjamin Franklin and Robert E. Lee.
This calendar poster was once folded in good C8 condition and has now been linen backed to display beautifully in any home. Prior to linen backing, the poster had some minor color loss along fold lines, some edge wear along margins and corners, and wrinkling and cracking in the calendar portion.
