STAR WARS, Episode IV: 1977. Original rolled/unfolded Hidelbrandt British Quad (30 x 40″) movie cinema poster for sale and starring; Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Alec Guinness, Peter Cushing, and directed by George Lucas. “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” Wonderful artwork from Greg & Tim Hildebrandt. They were reportedly only given 48 hours to complete the artwork. The Star Wars poster book recounts that they both would paint the artwork featured on this poster, where one would paint while the other would sleep. They rushed the delivery a few days later and finished up the artwork at the studio by adding C3Po and R2D2 to the right of Luke and Leia.
The poster was released in November of 1977 and was reportedly only used in London and until new years eve when it was replaced with the Thomas Chantrell British Quad.
This particular Star Wars Hidelbrandt Quad is in very fine condition, but it has some minor imperfections to note. There is scattered edge wear and the upper left corner has some crinkling. Outside of this, this unfolded quad is in spectacular near mint condition! Click on the photograph to enlarge.
