Original 1 Sheet (20 x 30” / 66 x 98 cm) Linen Backed British Propaganda Poster designed by Norman Wilkinson (1878 – 1971) himself a Navy officer and inventor of “Dazzle” camouflage. This type of camouflage consisted of bright colors and geometric shapes designed to confuse U-boat commanders about the exact speed and weak spots of the the British Navy. This poster conveys his striking artwork through the use of huge, threatening smoke clouds billowing from fast moving warships.
