WESTERN WINCHESTER, 1955. Original Deer Hunting Poster by Weimer Pursell (1906-1974). Poster is an original rolled poster which we have linen backed and measures (28 x 40” / 71 x 102 cm). This original advertising hunting poster for Winchester rifles was copyrighted in 1955 as part of a series of 4 posters for the Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation; each depicting an animal in its natural habitat; click here to see the Squirrel, Rabbit, Pheasant. This poster shows a rabbit escaping a hunter amid the snows of winter. Weimer Pursell was an American artist and graduate from the Chicago Art Institute and was a noted poster artist creating many designs for both the travel and advertising industries.
This original and rolled hunting poster was in excellent C8 condition prior to linen backing with no blemishes or stains to the image and has been linen backed and is now ready for display.
