2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, 1968. Original Vintage Special (20” x 40” / 66 x 131 cm) original release movie poster designed and painted by Robert McCall and published in 1968 by Personality Posters Manufacturing Company. The movie starred Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood and William Sylvestor and was directed by Stanley Kubrick. This landmark science fiction film focuses on the idea of evolution and the development of human morality. McCall’s vision of the wheel-shaped space station and space-suited astronauts have adorned art museums and movie theaters around the world.
McCall was a long-time space-scene painter for NASA and passed away on Feb. 26, 2010 at 90 years old. He created art that inspired generations and his work has been seen all over the world in NASA mission matches, concepts for programs and in murals at the NASA museums and centers across the country.
This very special poster is originally rolled in good C8 condition with only the following quality call-out: slight tearing that has occurred in the bottom left corner that would be easily rendered unnoticeable with Linen Backing upon request.
