Art by Bill Bailey. “World’s Biggest Menagerie” This mid-20th-century poster features a rhinoceros trotting across an open plain set against a vivid yellow sky, and the iconic globe logo (in blue) is shown in the bottom-left corner.
The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus is, without a doubt, the most famous name in the circus business. It’s Barnum & Bailey Roots date back to 1875, but it wasn’t until 1907 that the Ringlings added their name to the bill. The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus pushed through many hardships, including the Great Depression, World War II, and the devastating Hartford Circus Fire. Due to declining attendance, rising operating costs, and a change in public taste, the circus closed the show in May 2017.

This poster was in excellent original C9 condition prior to linen backing, and the colors have remained vivid. The fold lines are faintly visible, and have been retouched during the linen backing process. There is some staining along the top edge of the poster and near the bottom of the right-hand margin. There is also a small pinhole in the bottom-right corner.
