ALCOA SAILS THE CARIBBEAN, 1958. Original Vintage Travel Poster (25 x 38″ / 82 x 125 cm) designed by the artist Jaw; original Litho printed in U.S.A. This rare travel poster was used by the Alcoa Steamship Company in 1958 to promote that the company was now sailing passenger cruises to the Caribbean islands after WWII. This poster features a beautiful ombre orange and yellow background that mimics the beautiful sunsets seen in the Caribbean islands. The main composition is a very bright and colorful tropical color palette in the silhouette of a woman posed in a big, poofy dress. Inside the silhouette are different compositions made up of recognizable Caribbean motifs and landscapes: palm tree on the beach, a sail boat on the ocean with islands behind it, big umbrellas on the sandy beach, a tall condo building for tourists, and a guitar with a drum.
The poster is originally rolled and in great C8 condition with only a few minor quality remarks: small pinholes in all 4 corners from previous mounting, minor wrinkling near bottom from rolling the poster, and a very small portion of margin missing near the top of the right-hand margin.

Overall, this poster is in great condition and would look even more beautiful if customer opts to Linen Back for an additional fee – this process would preserve the poster’s current condition and virtually eliminate all of the quality remarks stated above.
