BRIDE OF THE MONSTER, 1956. Original Half Sheet (22” x 28” / 72 x 92 cm) folded movie poster starring Bela Lugosi, Loretta King, Tony McCoy and Tor Johnson. Directed and produced by Edward D. Wood Jr.. Written by Edward D. Wood Jr. and Alex Gordon. “The Screen’s Master of the Weird… In his newest and most daring shocker!” “More Horrifying than Dracula… Frankenstein!”. Bride of the Monster is the first movie Lugosi worked on with Ed Wood in an acting role, and was the last speaking role of his career. He had hoped that working with the ambitious young director would revive his career, but, sadly, it did not. Lugosi stars as a scorned mad scientist hell bent on creating a master race of super humans from unwilling victims who wander into the swamps near his laboratory.
The two autographs include: William “Billy” Benedict, who plays the newsboy, and Conrad Brooks, who has an unaccredited roll as a suspect outside of the office. Conrad Brooks also played a policeman in Plan 9 from Outer Space, Ed Wood’s most known film.
This autographed folded poster is in good C7 condition with very bright colors, although there is some toning throughout the poster, and the fold lines are still faintly visible. There is damage from tape on the center sides and corners, as well as pinholes in each corner. The autographs by both Conrad Brooks and William Benedict are clear and undamaged.
