FOOD IS AMMUNITION – DON”T WASTE IT, 1917. Original Linen Backed WW1 Poster (21” x 29”) designed by J. E. Sheridan for the U.S. Food Administration. This must be the poster that caused all our grandparents to persuade us to clean our plates all up at the dinner table! A basket of fresh produce from the garden sits in the foreground against a silhouette of cavalry carrying the U.S. flag. One of two famous posters by this artist – popular with decorators for kitchen and dining room decor!
Artist: John E. Sheriden (1880 – 1948)
This poster like others we have handled over the years was printed on lesser quality paper and often is found with margin tears and missing chips. We have linen backed this poster and made some repairs along the lower left and upper right margins. The poster is now ready for framing.
