FOR EVERY FIGHTER A WOMAN WORKER, 1918. Original Linen Backed Young Woman Christian Association (YWCA) vintage World War 1 poster (30” x 40” / 98 x 131 cm). Formed in the mid-nineteenth century the association played a key role during the World War 1 and the Woman’s suffragist movement. They were the first organization to send professional workers overseas to support the troops and encouraged women to support the war effort supply chain on the home front. Concurrent with these efforts the suffragists finally earned the respect of President Woodrow Wilson and his proposal to adopt the 19th Amendment and the right to vote in 1918. “Care for her through the YWCA, United War work Campaign”.
This historically important poster is in very good to fine condition. A few minor margin tears were repaired during linen backing though overall this poster required little restoration or retouching. Ready to frame!
