MACABRE, 1958. Original Horror US 1 sheet (27×41″) movie theater poster for sale and starring; William Prince, Jim Backus, Christine White, writers Robb White (screenplay), Anthony Boucher (novel) and director William Castle. Actually a pretty horrifying premise, this macabre movie originally released to theaters in the 50s is in part about being buried alive with 5 hours of air! William Castle decided to try a unique marketing idea; he supplied each viewer attending the theater performance with an official certificate issued by Lloyds of London to insure them for $1,000 against death by fright. An exploitation star, this was his first gimmick attempt that paved his way to being a master of horror exploitation! Of course this fact adds to the collectible nature of this 1 sheet for this awesome horror film!
This original US 1 sheet movie poster that is for sale is in very good condition, however it does have some minor imperfections that can be fixed after linen backing and some light restoration. There are 2 tears in the upper left quadrant to the left of the M, there is a tear along the top left corner which is not missing, there is some light staining on the top margin also. On the bottom margin on the left corner there is a tape stain. The rest of the poster, including the fold lines are virtually flawless.
