Pour La Liberté Du Monde, 1918. Original Linen-backed French World War 1 poster (34 x 49” / 84 x 124 cm) beautifully depicting the Statue of Liberty emerging and standing tall from the Atlantic Ocean. This poster, labeled “Pour La Liberté du Monde, Souscrivez à L’Emprunt National Banque Nationale de Crédit“, translates to “For the liberty of the world, subscribe to the National Credit Bank’s loan program”. This powerful illustration represented the power of the Statue of Liberty through France’s eyes, and patriotically advertises the financial contribution of the French population towards the war effort in the later stages of the Great War [1918]. The design for the poster was presented in 1917, the year the United States joined the war, and served as a rallying cry for both nations and their deep historic alliance.
The poster is in very good C8 condition. Having been linen-backed, this poster has very little damage or condition notes to make. Some very minor creasing from handling is evident. Poster has clean margins and bold colors, and is ready to frame!
