Co., Erie, Pa., No 4670. “Clyde Beatty in Person” “Trained Wild Animal” Clyde Beatty is featured front and center on the poster fully surrounded by ferocious lions and tigers.
Fearless animal trainer, Clyde Beatty was one of the biggest circus acts of the century, and quickly became the paradigm of a lion tamer for his time. At the height of his stardom, Beatty purchased his own circus which merged with the Cole Bros. Circus to form the Clyde Beatty–Cole Bros. Circus, and ran from 1945-1956.
These original circus posters are getting increasingly difficult to find and are a valuable part of American history.

This poster was in original C8 rolled condition prior to linen backing. The colors and imagery are vibrant and there are very little signs of damage. There is some discoloration along the bottom edge where the show time and location was originally attached, and a tear at the center of the top edge has been repaired with archival tape.
