EMPRUNT NATIONAL, 1920. A scarce post WWI Propaganda (c.1920) National Loan Poster (31 x 48” / 79 x 122 cm) depicting a fisherman carrying his catch to market. This forlorn French poster advertises the 5th National Loan in 1920 which was intended to support the national reconstruction effort. It features a fisherman in front of a port, which embodies the resumption of economic activity in this region. The poster translates to “We subscribe to the Adam Bank.” with an emphasis to the town of Boulogne on the sea (Boulogne sur Mer). A signature by the artist can be seen near the bottom right corner.
