M. L. Clark & Son’s Magnificent Species, 1911. This rare and original circus poster measures 28″ x 40″ (92 x 131 cm) and was originally rolled, but has now been linen-backed. It depicts the very famous M. L. Clark & Son’s circus performers with a tamer and the very exotic Bengal Tigers. “Magnificent Specimens of Ferocious Bengal Tigers”. M.L. Clark began his circus in the early 1900’s and continued until 1930 when it closed during the Great Depression.
This poster is in good C6 condition. Clear signs of age, with some minor loss of color in areas. Some staining around margins, but poster color is overall vibrant. Linen-Backing has helped restore poster and color. Slight fading along the bottom margin where a snipe would once have been glued. This poster has been restored and a patch was added along the lower margin neat the center.
