River of No Return, 1954. Original One Sheet (27 x 41”), (89 x 125 cm) originally folded and now linen backed movie poster starring Robert Mitchum and Marilyn Monroe and directed by Otto Preminger. This poster is for the 1961 Re-Release of the movie to cinemas. This Western film tells the story of a newly released man from prison, who was sentenced for defending another man through unintentional murder. He comes home to his son and his son’s caretaker who happens to be married to a gambler. The four set out by raft to file deep on a gold mine the husband won in a poker game. Along the way they get crossed by the husband and are left stranded on the river where their truths unravel, leaving the river as symbol of their newfound unity.
This poster is in very good condition, some soiling is evident at the cross folds and the the folds have received some light color retouching. Ready to frame!
