THE BARKLEYS OF BROADWAY, 1949. Original 1 Sheet (27 x 41” / 89 x 135 cm) folded Movie Poster starring Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, and Oscar Levant. Directed by Charles Walters with music by George Gershwin. “Joyously Together Again in MGM’s Now Technicolor Musical Hit!” Filmed in Technicolor, “Barkleys of Broadway” was the first movie dynamic dancing duo, Fred and Ginger, filmed together in color, but it was also their last. Judy Garland was the original female lead for the film, but was quickly replaced by Ginger Roger after she was fired from the set due to her frequent absenteeism. The film follows a successful husband-wife musical comedy team, as their, already rocky, marriage is put to the test after the wife receives an offer to become an actress. “Joyously together again in M-G-M’s new Technicolor musical hit”.
This poster is in very good original C8 condition and has been linen backed at our studios. Minor margin wear and corner discoloration.
