THERE! IN PEACE AS IN WAR, 1919. Original Vintage U.S. WWI American Red Cross Poster (20 x 30″ / 66 x 98cm) Linen Backed; artist and printer unknown. Third Red Cross Roll Call to support them shows a photograph of the $5,000,000 oil refinery fire in Brooklyn, NY on September 18, 1919, during which the Red Cross had provided services. The poster also promotes Armistice Day Nov. 2-11, 1919. “There! In Peace as in War. YOUR membership does it – JOIN Third Red Cross Roll Call Nov. 2-11 (Armistice Day)”.
Originally rolled and now linen-backed, this poster was in good C7 condition and had the following quality issues before being backed: 3 very small tears along the margin (1 on top and 2 on left side); slight color loss and crinkling along top fold, but this was improved during linen backing process.
