Yankee Doodle Dandy is a sensational, grand, and shamelessly patriotic film with lively song and dance numbers and an impressive performance by the energetic James Cagney. The musical tells the rags-to-riches tale of George M. Cohan, an entertainment legend from the early 20th century, and follows his life from his vaudeville training on the road as a youth, through to his success on Broadway later in his career, his retirement, and ending with his comeback in the theater production of “I’d Rather Be Right’.
The film was released on Memorial Day, 1942, and again around independence day. War bonds were sold in lieu of tickets for it’s New York premeir, and raised $5 million for the war effort. The film won three Academy Awards, and was nominated for eight.
This folded one sheet movie poster is in very good original C8 condition, but does show some signs of wear. There are multiple pinholes in each corner and light creasing throughout the poster and some cross fold separation.
